Danisha Drury, Interior Designer residing in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, defines sophistication with a modern glamour style that is uniquely her own, infusing it into her projects she undertakes. Danisha’s inspiration comes from anything and everything beautiful, whether art, something from nature, a foreign cityscape or even a family heirloom.
In 2007, after several years of being a successful small business owner of a few companies on Vancouver Island, Danisha made the decision to leave it behind and pursue her true passion of Interior Design. She began her career at Home Emagination Design Centre, where her flair and innate ability for interior design became apparent through her relationships that developed in the industry.
Upon completing Interior Design and Graphic programs at Camosun College and Royal Roads University in 2008, Danisha used her design skills and business ownership knowledge to begin her own interior design company – 101 Interior Design. But this isn’t where Danisha’s business sense, marketing skills and design talent ends. Her drive for success lead her to start another venture in 2010, when Danisha became a founding partner and president of Design District Studio Inc., a 2,400 square-foot interior design resource library built for the design and building community.
From 2010 to 2011, Danisha also co-hosted a talk show on CFAX radio called “Hot Properties”, where she took live calls to discuss people’s design needs and provide advice. It was in 2011 when Danisha decided to move from radio to film and became a host and interior designer of “Design District the Series”, which had its start on the Internet but has since developed into a full television production that airs weekly on CHEKTV and is now in its second season. Danisha eventually transferred the shares from 101 Interior Design to Danisha Drury Design Inc. to further brand herself as television personality and interior design expert.
Recently, Danisha has been featured in Yam Magazine, Homes & Living Magazine, Snap Magazine and the Times Colonist. You may have also seen her in several television commercials for Slegg Lumber, CHEK TV and CHEK media.
With a style so uniquely her own, a drive to succeed and an evident love for interior design there’s only onward and upward for this inspiring entrepreneur.
Even with her busy schedule, Danisha is dedicated to giving back to her community and helping those who need it. She has been a part of a Habitat for Humanity building project, which lead her to Costa Rica to build a home for a family in need. As well Drury has worked as a volunteer for BC Children’s Hospital Foundation Lottery Home, Mustard Seed, MS Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Dahlia Society and various other Charity events. Danisha is also a proud supporter of the Change Heroes campaign to help build a school in Kenya with Free the Children.
Over the years, Danisha has lived in various places around North America – Ontario, Hawaii and southern California – before finally settling on Vancouver Island, where she lives and enjoys her busy life with her husband Steven Slegg and their three beautiful children. When Danisha is not working or volunteering, she loves spending time with her family and friends, boating, traveling, gardening, aerobics, reading, photography, snowboarding, yoga, scrapbooking and taking care of her indoor flower collection, consisting mainly of orchids.
